Why we build in solid oak

Veneer is cheaper and easier. Here is why every AURELIA table is a single honest material.

A veneered table looks the same on the day it arrives. A solid table looks better ten years later. That is the whole argument, and it is why we cut every dining table from planks of kiln-dried oak and nothing else.

Solid wood moves with the seasons. We design for that, with floating joints and breadboard ends, so the table breathes instead of cracking. It can also be sanded back to new, as many times as you like.

It costs more and takes longer. We think a table you eat at every day for forty years should be made that way.
